Commissioner Stewart Names Dr. Stacy Carlson to Lead Florida Education Foundation Board
Tallahassee, Fla., November 7, 2014 – Dr. Stacy Carlson has been selected by Education Commissioner Pam Stewart to be Chairman of the Board for the Florida Education Foundation (FEF). Dr. Carlson has served on the FEF Board of Directors since 2004.
“It is my great pleasure to name Dr. Stacy Carlson as the Chairman of the FEF Board of Directors,” said Commissioner Stewart. “Dr. Carlson has a long commitment to education in the Sunshine State and I look forward to working with her during the coming year.”
“I am honored to be named Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors,” said Dr. Carlson. “My goal throughout the year ahead is to expand opportunities to promote academic excellence by strengthening partnerships with businesses statewide.”
Dr. Carlson is currently Vice President and Program Director, Florida Transition Years for Helios Education Foundation. She works in conjunction with Helios Education Foundation’s community investment team to identify partnership opportunities and implement the Foundation’s strategic investment goals in Florida. As the former executive director for the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, Dr. Carlson oversaw the regional and statewide activities of district-wide education foundations including legislative advocacy, professional development and fundraising.
Dr. Carlson is an Alumni Fellow and received her doctorate at the University of Florida where she studied the characteristics of successful education foundations in Florida. She also holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Florida. She has also studied abroad at the National University of Singapore on a Rotary International Ambassador Scholarship.
