DOE Launches Education-Themed YouTube Channel

~ Evolving video content provides valuable information on Florida's changing education landscape ~

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Department of Education (DOE) today launched an education-centered YouTube channel that provides informative video content to a variety of education stakeholders throughout the state. The EducationFL channel features a growing library of videos that will help teachers, parents, students and others enhance their connection to, and understanding of Florida education. This new video channel also helps to enhance the Department's expanding social media presence and provide new ways of collecting stakeholder input.

"The Department is always looking for new and creative ways to increase awareness and understanding of Florida's education system and the ongoing efforts to improve it," said Education Commissioner John L. Winn. "We see this as a great opportunity to provide visually enhanced content that accomplishes that goal, while helping to create new dialogue opportunities with Florida residents and educators."

The newly created channel features a variety of content intended for a wide range of audiences. Some notable videos include helpful updates related to ongoing changes to many aspects of the state's education system, useful tips teachers can use in their classrooms, ways parents can get involved in their child's education, literacy public service announcements, event celebrations and a self-written rap video about reading performed by at-risk youth.

The Department has also created social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and blogs for specific audiences. To view these sites or to learn more about the Department, visit www.fldoe.org.
