Florida Moves to GED Computer-Based Testing
- One-stop registration, instant scores, flexible testing appointments -Tallahassee, Fla., July 16, 2012 - In an effort to help adults earn their high school diploma in a more efficient and flexible manner, Florida is moving to offer the computer-based GED test. The GED Testing Service is partnering with five Florida communities to offer registration, scheduling and testing on a computer. The computer-based test will be available at testing centers in Alachua, Citrus, Escambia, Highlands and Walton counties.
"I am pleased that Florida is making the GED testing process more flexible and accessible," said Commissioner of Education Gerard Robinson. "The improved process will provide adult learners the opportunity to earn their GED credential so they can get a better paying job, enter the workforce or register for college training programs to support themselves and their families."
The new computer-based testing experience will provide adult learners with more flexibility as they juggle their jobs and families. While the new computer-based test has the same test content currently offered on the paper test, the new system will introduce a streamlined process that allows online registration and scheduling any time of the day or night, flexible testing appointment windows, and quicker test results.
