Draft Set of Standards Available for Public Input

The Florida Department of Education (DOE) and the Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) have developed a draft set of educational standards for Florida’s four-year-olds participating in either the School Readiness or Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Programs, and are seeking public input on these new draft learning standards. Educational standards for the VPK program have been in place since 2005, and for the first time, these new draft standards combine the school readiness standards and VPK standards that are designed to prepare children for success in kindergarten.

Interested stakeholders who wish to review the draft standards may visit the Early Learning website at www.fldoe.org/earlylearning/perform.asp. To share feedback, comments, and suggestions on the Draft One Set of Standards for Florida’s Four-Year-Olds, users have three options available:

  1. Online: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DRAFTOneSetofStandardsforFloridasFour-Year-Olds
  2. Fax: (850) 245-5105
  3. Mail: Florida Department of Education Office of Early Learning, 325 W. Gaines St., Suite 514, Tallahassee, FL 32399

The deadline for public comment is April 25, 2011.
