Student Growth Implementation Committee to Hold Face-to-Face Meeting in Orlando

The Race to the Top Student Growth Implementation Committee (SGIC) will hold its next face-to-face meeting February 7-8 in Orlando, Fla. Consisting of teachers, principals, parents, teacher educators, business leaders and other education stakeholders, the committee was established to help inform the process of creating value added student growth models for school districts to use as they develop new teacher and principal evaluation systems.

The purpose of this meeting is the development of a value-added model for the statewide Algebra I end-of-course assessment. The committee will also discuss options for a growth model for the Florida Alternate Assessment and begin the discussion of exploring the development of other optional value-added models for commonly used assessments in Florida.

The meeting will also be webcast on the Department's website at www.fldoe.org. Additional information about the committee and its continuing work can be found at http://www.fldoe.org/committees/sg.asp.
