Department of Education Recognizes Outstanding Business Partners in Northeast Florida

Tallahassee, Fla., June 9, 2015 – Chancellor of K-12 Public Education Hershel Lyons tonight will honor 83 business partners in education with the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards. The awards acknowledge businesses for their extraordinary contributions to public education in Florida.

“I’m grateful to each business honored with the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award,” said Commissioner Pam Stewart. “Every gift of time, talent and resources helps to ensure Florida students receive a high-quality education that will prepare them for success now and in the future.”

“Everyone benefits when businesses are actively involved in education in their communities,” said Chancellor Lyons. “I commend our partners’ efforts to ensure students receive the tools and resources they need to be successful in college, career and life.”

The Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards are administered by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation to encourage successful alliances within the business community and among local school districts for the benefit of Florida’s students. Sponsors of the 28th annual awards program are Florida Trend, Kyra Solutions and Mosaic.

“Florida businesses generously support our students, educators and schools with contributions and innovative programs that enrich the education experience,” said Stacy Carlson, chairman of the Florida Education Foundation. “Their impact on student achievement and success is beyond measure.”
